India Gate is an iconic piece of history, but to truly enjoy it, timing and planning matter. There is very little shade around the main lawns, so the best time to visit is early in the morning. Arriving around sunrise helps you beat the intense heat, avoid crowds, and get the absolute best lighting for photographs. Make sure to walk over to the National War Memorial located right next to it. To cross safely over the busy roads, use the dedicated underground pedestrian subway. The underground pathway is packed with informational posters and panels depicting the history, making the walk over as educational as it is convenient. Highly recommended! India Gate, standing tall in New Delhi, is a majestic war memorial built in 1931 to honor the 70,000 Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War I. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, this 42‑meter‑high arch is an architectural marvel blending grandeur with solemnity. Beneath it burns the Amar Jawan Jyoti, an eternal flame symbolizing courage and sacrifice. Surrounded by lush lawns, India Gate is not only a historic landmark but also a cherished spot for gatherings, reflection, and national pride. India Gate is an iconic monument in Delhi that every Indian should visit at least once! 🇮🇳✨ Its clean lawns, beautiful fountains, and ponds offer a vibrant yet calm vibe for relaxing, photos, or family evening walks 🌳📸. Sitting peacefully under the trees is inspiring, and reading the script honoring the Army Jawans who sacrificed for our freedom gives you goosebumps 🕊️. The site looks especially stunning after sunset, illuminated beautifully by the colors of the Indian flag 💡🧡🤍💚. Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No
Standing proudly in the heart of India Gate, this place is much more than just a famous monument. The moment you reach there, the entire atmosphere feels lively and emotional at the same time. Surrounded by wide roads, green lawns, and the fresh evening breeze, India Gate gives a feeling that every visitor should experience at least once. The monument looks absolutely beautiful, especially after sunset when the lights turn on and the whole area starts glowing. Sitting near the lawns with family or friends, enjoying street food, watching children play, and seeing people from different parts of the country enjoying together creates a very positive vibe. The Amar Jawan Jyoti beneath the arch reminds everyone about the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers, and that feeling naturally brings respect and pride. One thing I personally liked was how active and cheerful the place remains during evenings. Ice cream sellers, balloon vendors, photographers, and local food stalls make the environment feel energetic without losing the historical importance of the monument. The architecture itself is impressive and looks even more majestic in real life than in photos. The area around India Gate is also clean and well maintained. It is a perfect place for a peaceful evening walk, photography, or simply spending quality time with loved ones. Early morning and late evening are probably the best times to visit because the weather feels pleasant and the crowd is manageable. Overall, visiting India Gate is not just about seeing a tourist attraction, it feels like experiencing a small part of India’s spirit and history together in one place. A must-visit spot for every traveller visiting Delhi. Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No
