Nice fabrics and fast service. Made to measure dresses. Sorry to say when I received my dress at the hotel it was not as we discussed (it should have had a border around the hem but it was left unfinished). I was travelling and did not have time to go back. Disappointed

Beware this might be a scam place. We were looking for the indian government emporium and was walking down the street a man engaged us in a conversation asking where we were from and told us it is around the corner and told us this rickshaw will take us there for 30 rupees They took us to the indian loom and said this was it and the other business was closed tomorrow a holiday for end of fasting Lots of salespeople standing around all trying to get you to buy stuff. One indian woman shopping. Unfortunately I did buy some fabric My roommate got 2 outfits made.locals and designers shopping. Afterwards the rickshaw driver started talking me about his tour business and did inform me he get's a small commission for bringing me there. Next day we went to another huge fabric store well established in the city- nehru street. Fabrics were so much cheaper and I think much better quality lots of locals and designers shopping. Lesson learned!! Unfortunately fell for this scam Afterwards read the reviews on TripAdvisor and other pages this is quite common in india Please beware don't fall for this like we did

How they “scammed” us: We were crossing a street and walking towards the metro. A local dude commented something like “busy, isn’t it” - innocent so far. Then, he asked us where we were going & we told him we were heading to the Metro to go to some market (“market” is a keyword never mention that you’re intending to go shopping). He told us the market was closed cuz of Republic Day - this turned out to be a lie because we literally went there afterwards. He recommended us to go to another shopping area & got a tuktuk for us. The way he described the place was like it was a shopping mall. When we arrived, they dropped us off at this area. After this point it was the typical pushy salesmen behavior. I ended up buying two table runners for a pretty high price but on the good-side (i.e. the reason why I gave 2 stars instead of 1) I haven’t found these table runners being sold cheaper at a market yet so maybe I paid a fair price for it - who knows. Summary: Do not listen to unsolicited recommendations from locals on the street on where to do your shopping.
