Large shop with all types of Indian souvenirs. Can also be called a tourist trap. Local tour guides, taxi and auto drivers bring tourists here, as they get a commission (quite common in India). The sales staff are smooth-talking and know every sales trick in the book. Some of them are even fluent in other languages, and try to build a rapport with you from the very beginning. It's impossible to walk out without buying something. Some of the products are average quality, and some are of inferior quality, but all of them are overpriced by a large margin. I was fairly unscathed, as I managed to walk out with only one double-sided silk pashmina for 2500 rupees. Well, I think it's silk, but who knows?
On our first day in Delhi one of the tourist information centers (which was a scam) recommended this place to us. The people at Indian Loom were really friendly, took a lot of time for us and the place seemed professional. So I decided to get a custom made suit. Afterwards I did a bit of research and saw a lot of bad reviews claiming they are lying about the fabrics. So I asked on WhatsApp and they confirmed once more that the fabric is only cashmere-silk without synthetic material. When I came to collect the suit I demanded a sample of the fabric and tried burning it. It burned really well and melted making it obvious that there is A LOT of synthetic material inside (and not only a couple of percent which can still be alright). I was really disappointed being lied to so directly and demanded my money back. On the bright side I got all my money back without much discussion. That's why it's two stars.
It was a pleasure shopping here. Amazing service from OP and team. Very nice people and hospitality. They take every clothing detail and choices into consideration providing you with the best service and prices.
We recently visited Indian Looms in New Delhi and unfortunately had a very negative experience. Be warned: many auto-rickshaw drivers are in a 'commission cohort' with this store. They will insist on taking you here under the guise of showing you 'authentic' or 'government' looms. Once inside, the sales staff are high-pressure. After speaking with locals later, we realized we overpaid by 30–40% compared to fair market prices. As fellow Indians from Mumbai, it’s disappointing to see such unscrupulous trading practices giving our capital a bad name. Save your money and go to established markets like Janpath or Dilli Haat instead. #DelhiShopping #TravelScams #IndiaTourism"
Raju was amazing at helping us find out kurta for our friends wedding
Indian loom or Indian doom? I was brought there by my guide and tuktuk who probably get a commission from what has been sold. 100 euro per scarf ? I paid 400 euro for a tailor made Saaree. It’s very expensive for what it is. They will tell you about the price until the last minute (even if you ask beforehand). Be careful they are very good salesman.
I'm in love with my new carpet from this store! The quality is unmatched, and it adds so much character to my home. Thank you for such a wonderful shopping experience. The shipping to my home was handled very well. Thanks.
Renuka helps me a lot today. Such a beautiful lady and place.
WARNING DO NOT GO THERE! I bought 1 scarf and the agreed amount was Aus $23 and when I got home they had withdrawn Aus $233. This and places like it are a scam. No locals shop there. They are not cheap you can get honest prices and cheaper prices at local shops.
Sangeev Gupta is a. Nice person and quality of fabric is also good
