absolute tourist trap - high prices and extreme pressure sales. We were brought there by our tour guide. If I wasn’t leaving Delhi so soon, I would’ve shopped elsewhere.
Pretty good carpet selection to be displayed, was shown a "Silk" carpet which I probably overpayed for but nevertheless a great design. Sales people can be a very pushy and ignore your requests to browse other items. Be strong minded when going. Also be aware of the tuk-tuk scam that happens here (drivers bring you here and other places out of the "Kindness of their hearts")
Amazing high quality rugs from Kashmir. Great service by Manzoor.
BEWARE: I came to Delhi knowing full well to beware of scammers, but I was tricked non the less lol. Met a very nice guy when my daughter and I were getting ready to enter the Palika Underground Bazaar. He said he was from Mumbai and studying in Delhi asked where we were from yada yada. Said the bazaar wasn't worth going to just a bunch of junk (which is absolutely true). He told us to try the Indian Loom because it had good souvenirs, scarfs ect and they wouldn't hound you. He then said he'd point the direction to go and helped us look it up on Google maps. He did indeed point us in the right direction and said he was going back to meet his family at the Starbucks across the street. At this point I thought he was just a helpful guy. We started looking for an Uber to get there because it was over a 20 minute walk and it was 107 out. He saw what we were doing and hailed a tuk tuk for us and got him to give us a ride for 30 rupees. Anyways we get to this place and it was filled with very expensive rugs, scarfs, knick knacks, teas etc. The people weren't exactly pushy but they were very persistent. We get out of there with all cash still in hand and I say to my daughter I'm pretty sure that was a setup...Then low and behold magically the same exact tuk tuk driver is just there offering us a ride back. I still wasn't fully convinced it was a scam/setup until not 10 minutes later we meet another friendly guy that's also in Delhi studying, but he was from Jaipur and we should check out this great place for gifts. Ya we didn't fall for it the second time lol. Don't go here it's a tourist trap!!
They are very pushy, and expensive. Highly recommend to avoid this place, icame with a friend from Switzerland and seriously they have paid all the people around to point to this place. Avoid at all cost.
Scam. “Uncrushable Delhi silk” turns out to be pure polyester. Like many other reviewers we were lured here by several tuk-tuk drivers who told us that Connaught Place was “closed due to protests”. Another scammer on foot pretended to be a waiter from our hotel who “recognised us and came to our assistance to prevent us from being scammed by the tuktuk drivers”. Ha. He was also in on the scam to get us to Indian Loom. This scam is obviously huge and involves many people so you need to be on your guard. When we got to Indian Loom we felt very pressured to buy. I eventually bought two kurtas which I was told were made from “uncrushable Delhi silk”. It wasn’t until we’d left Delhi (and couldn’t return the garments) that I was told by several textile experts in Gujurat that both are made from pure polyester and were therefore totally overpriced. Avoid this shop like the plague. It’s a total rort. There are many excellent shops in India selling genuinely lovely goods. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM!
Tourist scam! Be aware! It happens to use three times, someone in the road will approach you kindly and just chat about where you’re from and what you’re doing in India. Then he will suggest to move somewhere else for whatever reason and he suggests this shop “India Loom” and leave. Soon after a TukTuk driver will come to you and will insist on bringing you to India Loom. If you ask for another destination he will try anyway to bring you to India Loom before and later on to your final destination. Avoid this place!
Lovely place. Raju and his team were very helpful with finding me and my friends and Kurta.
Some really nice products but over priced. You're followed all the way around the shop and it's hard to say no. You see cheaper at the airport and with less pressure selling. If you're going to Jaipur for example this is where a lot of their stuff comes from so buy there.
The best place to visit when you're in Delhi. Amazing Carpets, clothing and amazingly fashionable jewellery. Must visit when you're in Delhi. 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
