Indian Loom

On may 3, 2024, I was brought to this place by a tuktik driver, immediately i realized it is a scam as the neighbor of this place is messy, away from the center. I walked out in 5 mins and stayed away from the tuktuk driver who continued to follow me. There are many so called “tourists office by government” are also scam sites trying to sell you overpriced tours or day trips.

Visited this store on a friend's recommendation, and I'm so glad I did! The textiles and carpets are exquisite, and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.

Went here bought a scarf that was pashmina for 1100 and they wanted to sell me a t-shirt for the same price when I told the person showing us around he just bobbed his head and said very good price, walked out after this empty handed. If your looking for souvenirs head to Janpath market more variety of items.

Beautiful things but nothing has fixed prices so seeing and trying the products feel very uncomfortable like being charged overprices for being tourists. Some of the products have higher price than going to a store with the price on tags

Ref: I purchased a 4x6" rug at the store. Item was shipped to Helsinki. Shipping via DHL was free, no customs collected, just the 24% Finnish VAT. Extremely satisfied with the whole process. It was extremely well packed, thank you so much. Didn't even want to open it too quickly because the parcel was so well done =) And the item itself.. let me tell you a short story.. I fell in love with your products immediately when entering your store. That doesn't happen too often because I'm not too keen into .. stuff, you know. But the quality of your carpets, the handcraft, the look. I don't know... it just tickles my sense of aesthetics. Seems like I've found something I really like, Kashmir carpets! So, I immediately knew I had to have one but also knew that my wife is very picky on home decoration. So I whatsapped her a picture of a carpet I liked and the response was what I expected. "Not our style. Too big. Don't do it. You'll regret it." While your products are very reasonably priced, it was just too much of a risk to make a purchase for a big carpet. There was this Nordic/Scandinavian "style" light coloured carpet I fell in love with, something the gentleman in your store recommended immediately when I walked in. He was a true professional, by the way. So.. I knew I couldn't get a nice light carpet for home but I also have an office which is my kingdom so to speak, so let the trade begin. I bought a smaller carpet, a more dark golden coloured, and came home as a happy customer. So, what happens when the carpet arrives a few weeks later, we open it and my wife sees it? "I love this. Why didn't you get the big one? Let's put this in our living room, although it's a bit small." ..What can I say? Should've trusted my gut feeling and bought the big one. Please note that this place is not a government shop. They have links with the auto/tuktuk drivers who bring you to Indian loom at Gol Market instead of other places in the Connaught Place bazaar. Our auto driver lied to us and told us the place we actually wanted to go to (the government emporiums) were closed that day. The items are not worth what they say they are.

DO NOT FOLLOW THE NICE MAN INTO THIS SHOP. I repeat. Do not do it. It’s a tourist trap. Overpriced souvenirs marketed as genuine goods. Cashmere shawls are not genuine cashmere. The art is all mass cloned, not actually handmade.

WARNING: DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE. I purchased a gemstone from them after much deliberation. I was given a certificate of authenticity. I had it valued when I got it home and it is synthetic paste and not the 52 carat topaz stone I was sold. I am furious and also annoyed at myself!

I was impressed by the amount of handmade items and prices were fair. Downside as a white tourist is that they are literally begging you to look and buy something, it was a very stressful experience for me
