Has been very interesting to visit this shop, plenty soft multipurpose stuff, like textile, carpet, jwellery and sculpures. Ranjeet, our hostess, has been very kindly and patient about our requests. We done a very deal in this place! Thank you
Vinod is the best seller out here. He’s very helpful
This show is part of a very sophisticated scam involving tuktuk drivers and locals on the street. How does it work? 1. You are on the street and a local comes to you and interrupts you asking for money 2. Another local is coming to save you, the second one looks serious, telling you (for example) that he is working nearby selling newspapers 3. He discusses what are you looking for, tell you everything is closed, but he knows about a serious shop nearby 4. The guy catches a tuktuk for you, price is very reasonable 5. Now you are in the shop that indeed looks serious, including a card terminal 6. The problem is that all of it is overpriced or fake (especially silk, which is a viscose) 7. Now you are already in the typical rip-off shop. All of that does not necessarily mean that all of their products are fake or low quality, you just need to know the price and quality. If you want to avoid situations like this look for shops with fixed prices or go further out of the city center.
WOW!WOW!WOW! For lovers of beautiful hand crafts and hand woven mementos and cultural souvenirs whose history is steeped in the clouds of memory, this is an Indian cultural heaven. Don't leave Delhi without a purchase from here!
MK gave us brilliant service and good advice on what clothes to buy. The clothes did not initially fit, so the store tailored the clothing to fit us, and delivered to our hotel at 11pm! The clothing selection was also very good.
TOURIST SCAM WARNING Delhi Haat, Cottage Emporium, and Connaught Place are often recommended tourist spots in Delhi, but my experience was marred by an organised scam that travellers should be warned about. Right after I landed and stepped out for a walk, local tuk-tuk drivers and street people repeatedly approached me. They pretended to care about my plans, insisting that my intended destination was closed and directing me to Delhi Haat instead. It became clear they were all coordinated. One man, who seemed sincere, gained my trust over a few days, and convinced me to visit Delhi Haat. I suspected he would get a commission, so I decided to go along just to help him out. Once inside, the experience was frustrating. The vendors persistently pushed their goods, often in an irritating, persistent manner. I ended up buying a cashmere shawl, only to find out after I returned home that it was not real cashmere. I also bought earrings that were not genuine, despite being sold as such. When I came out from shopping, some of the same men who had been following me around all week were waiting outside. Then the man I had gone there for, who had told me all week he wasn’t after money and just wanted to walk with me to practise his English, suddenly tried to fleece me. He claimed he needed money because he lived in the slum, pressuring me right after insisting for days that he wasn’t in it for money. Though I knew I was being scammed, I paid the inflated prices to ensure the guide would receive his commission and stop harassing me.. This ordeal made it clear how coordinated these scams can be. Tourists should be extremely cautious, my experience has put me off visiting India again.
MK was very nice and helpful! Helped me find the most beautiful fabric to make into a saree! So gorgeous and nice experience. Came in blind and came out very happy! 🤗 …
Felt dodgy. Paid 1700 for a “cashmere” scarf after negotiations and saw other people’s reviews afterwards and my gut feeling was most likely right. Don’t go there! The lady was extremely pushy, and I didn’t like the feeling that she said “I’m giving you a good price, because you are young women but I know you have money“ kinda thing. Do not go. Hope you see this before entering, because it was very difficult to say no once you are in there. Edit : One of the shirt they had and explained to me that “it’s handmade, we don’t have any other colors because it’s only one and special” was sold on a street market. Can’t believe this kind of scammers, do not buy anything from here.
We were taken to this store by our tour guide after she and our driver both insisted that the places we wanted to shop at sold poor quality stuff that can be worn once before tearing, is very over priced and is mass produced. On entering the store the salesperson started taking out tons of stuff, insisting we try them out and they can custom alter it to our size. After much persuasion although I repeatedly said I can get it cheaper from my country they insisted not their quality. They were upset that they wasted their time on us and I'm not buying anything. I don't like arguing about money so paid them for their grossly overpriced items and left. I'm more disappointed that I allowed them to take advantage of me and scammed me. The guide still insisted that I got a bargain although the same items are much cheaper elsewhere. Very upset. This happened on our first day in India. The driver and tour guide are in cohorts with each other as they sing the same tune.
We had an amazing experience in this shop with MK especially in the textile section. There are beautiful, gorgeous Pashminas, Indian trausers and traditional dresses. Highly recommended to shop in here for good quality products and top notch customer service.
