They have people outside to scam tourists. Their prices are much higher than normal prices. Their behavior is also not good, The funny thing is that if they don't buy the product from them, they show them the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Tourists beware. Instead of buying from them, there are thousands of shops around, buy from them.

This place was the biggest scam I have ever experienced!!! A lady in my group asked to go to the government sanctioned Dilli Haat market but instead we were taken to this this fake version where I was pressured to buy and later found out that my two “silk” “handmade” rugs were both machine made and cotton. I was able to get in touch with a rep at Cottage industries after contacting my credit card company. They admitted that “someone” had inadvertently sold me (and my friends) fake rugs. They said they would return the money. After many conversations on What’s App they send me a fake email claiming to be from their bank and claiming that a charge back had been initiated to my account. No such thing happened. Wow, the extent they went to not to give me compensation for expensive fake rugs. I couldn’t believe that my very nice tour guide had taken us there and had received a large kick back. It makes you think that. India (especially Delhi?) is just one hustle and scam after another!!!

Most of the positive reviews here seem to refer to Dilli Haat, not this place. This shop is part of a tourist scam where prices are outrageously inflated—sometimes up to 10 times more than what you’d pay locally. If a tuk-tuk driver brings you here, do yourself a favor and walk away. Don’t even pay the driver, as they’re likely part of the scam and earn a commission from the overpriced products you buy. Avoid at all costs.

I think all the "scam" reviews are a bit overstated. Yes, there is purposeful confusion over the name with Dilli Haat…. yes, it's Delhi, so you're going to pay more than elsewhere in the country. They're there to make money, which is fair, and in India you just need to know your stuff before you buy. It's easy to be seduced and India is a culture of very fine and convincing salespersonship… so go with it and enjoy. Yes, you can get better deals elsewhere and yes you could have bargained for better prices… but you're not going to find those prices back home. I had a couple of suits, a couple of sport coats and seven shirts made. I'm quite happy… it's not Savile Row tailoring or fabrics, but it fits and looks fine. And I had time and, so, that's that. No regrets. Being "scammed" occasionally is one of the costs of being a tourist. Don't fight it!

Avoid! Do not confuse this shop, Delhi Haat cottage emporium, with the government-owned open air market, Dilli Haat. They are not the same. Delhi Haat shop has some beautiful things, particularly the artwork. You will, however, be charged astronomical prices ie 5 times what they should cost. Take your calculator so you’re clear on the proposed cost of your own currency and barter. I was sold two beautiful bedspread sets for 17,000 rupees which they told me were raw silk. Upon closer inspection when i got back to my hotel, and as other reviewers have warned, the items were cotton & nylon/polyester and not raw silk. I found these reviews online, realised I’d been lied to and sent the driver back the same day with my goods and obtained a full refund. I’d also put down a deposit for some jewellery which I’m not convinced was authentic and they gave me back my deposit, which I appreciated. It’s a shame, as if this shop were honest about the quality and material of their goods and sold things for a reasonable price, hotels would send their guests there and they’d make good money. It’s very short-sighted and dishonest to scam tourists in this way.

Vinod is a good person first than a good seller. He did all possible to explain me about articles although I couldn't but anything at this moment.

This place is amazing! I was helped by Ranjeet and Neetu. The quality of products is outstanding and the selection phenomenonal. The prices are equally good and the explanation of each item was given with real love and care. You need to go and see for yourself!

This place is just one big scam. If some guy starts walking beside you and is overly friendly, then tells you about this 'awesome' place. Tell him to go away and walk into the nearest store. It's a big scam.

Don't be trapped. This place (Delhi Haat) is claiming to be a government sanctioned retail shop and offering fixed prices. But I wonder whether the government is doing anything to make this place visitor friendly. In reality they are scammers and looters operating right in the heart of Delhi, targeting foreign tourists. I was accompanying a Canadian guest when one of their agents (claiming to be just helping) in Connaught Place approached us. We were about to go to Palika Bazaar just to buy a leather wallet, but he showed up, claiming it was closed and wouldn’t open until 12:30 pm, which was a lie. Unfortunately, we believed him. He said we were guests and that he was just helping us. He even called an auto (tuk tuk) for us and requested to visit this shop (Delhi Haat Cottage), instructing the driver to take us for just Rs 30, which the driver readily agreed to. And we believed him. He said lether items like wallets are available there. Unaware of the network these scammers operate, we went along. The auto (tuktuk) driver directed us into this specific shop where the staff forced us to have a look at a 6x4 carpet. They quoted us a price of USD 2,000—around Rs 1.6 lakh, which was unbelievable. And on the upper floors there was a marble elephant and the staff quoted a price of Rs 28000. Every item was priced outrageously to scam foreigners. And most importantly there were no leather items or wallets at this shop like the man in Cannaught Place said. The Canadian guy knew of the trap and didn't buy anything and I felt ashamed before him. And when we came out of the shop, the auto driver (tuk tuk) was still waiting outside talking to the shop chargers. He was discouraged to find us empty handed. And he said he would take us to another "better" shop, which we denied. Then we went back to Cannaught Place in another vehicle and found the old guy doing the same scam to other white foreign tourists, telling them excuses not to roam around Cannaught Place or palika bazar but to go to Delhi Hat. We then knew he was their agent . And rikshaw walas also get commission which is why they take tourists for just Rs 30 to that place. And we had more scammer agents of other different shops trying to infest the Canadian guest. We were fed up and had to leave from there. The whole city has become infested by these useless scammers targeting foreigners and we had plenty of them the whole day and I felt ashamed as an Indian infront of my guest. One can see multiple foreign guest reviews right here on Google maps of being scammed the same way we were just scammed. They are tarnishing the name of our country. Although we ended up in the wrong place, it was a learning experience. Never ever believe anyone who comes to help you around Cannaught Place.
