Designer से पूछें कि वह छोटे room projects लेता है या नहीं। Design consultation, drawings और execution अलग services हो सकती हैं। किसी portfolio में सुंदर room दिखने से आपके project में वही materials या पूरा execution शामिल होने की पुष्टि नहीं होती।

अपनी जरूरत को तीन हिस्सों में लिखें

पहला हिस्सा उन चीजों का रखें जो बदलनी ही हैं। दूसरा उन items का जो अच्छे हैं और रखना चाहते हैं। तीसरे में इच्छाएं लिखें जिन्हें जगह और agreed खर्च के अनुसार बाद में देखा जा सकता है। इससे पहली discussion में priorities समझ आती हैं।

Layout approve करने से पहले movement सोचें

Door, drawer और cupboard खुलने की जगह देखें। Bed, chair और दूसरे furniture के आसपास सामान्य आवाजाही कैसे होगी, drawing में समझें। Proposed size और actual room के बीच कोई doubt हो तो final approval से पहले पूछें।

किसी wall, wiring या दूसरे technical हिस्से में बदलाव हो तो relevant qualified professional से feasibility और आवश्यक process समझें। सजावट की reference image को structural या electrical काम का निर्देश न मानें।

Material samples को सही reference दें

Colour, finish और texture केवल screen पर चुनने के बजाय available physical samples देखें। Sample का code और approved choice लिखवाएं। Brand, specification या finish बदलनी पड़े तो पहले approval कैसे लिया जाएगा, तय करें।

• Quotation में design और execution के हिस्से क्या हैं?
• Carpentry, painting और lighting का exact scope क्या है?
• Hardware, fixtures और accessories included हैं?
• कोई item unavailable हो तो replacement कौन approve करेगा?
• Revision और additional work की प्रक्रिया क्या है?

“Complete room package” जैसे नाम के साथ item-wise details मांगें। दो proposals की तुलना तभी सीधी होगी जब measurements, materials और included work समान हों। Site की वास्तविक condition के कारण estimate बदल सकता है तो उसका approval process समझें।

घर में रहते हुए काम होगा तो arrangements तय करें

Work area, सामान की सुरक्षा, dust management और daily access पर बात करें। आपकी तरफ से approvals के लिए एक contact person रहे। Vendor को अलग-अलग लोगों से विरोधी instructions मिलने पर काम अस्पष्ट हो सकता है।

Handover में agreed checklist से drawers, doors, finish और installed items देखें। Pending work लिखें और support contact संभालें। Room का makeover तभी आपके लिए उपयोगी है जब रोज का इस्तेमाल भी पहले से ज्यादा सहज हो।
