Jantar Mantar is an outdoor complex featuring historical astronomical instruments built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the king of Jaipur. While the history is fascinating, the visitor experience is lacking. It would have been much better if they provided guides or interactive displays explaining how these structures measure time, or even a live demonstration showing how to read the current time. Without any such provision, we just walked around the complex and left. Ultimately, it felt like a spot we visited just to cross a major Delhi tourist attraction off our list.
Jantar Mantar is a fascinating historical and scientific monument that showcases India's rich astronomical heritage. The massive instruments are impressive and well-preserved. The site is informative and worth visiting for students, history enthusiasts, and tourists. Better informational displays and maintenance in some areas would enhance the experience further. Overall, a unique and educational attraction in the heart of Delhi.

It’s not just a monument; it's a testament to ancient Indian science. Whether you visit the UNESCO World Heritage site in Jaipur or the iconic protest-adjacent grounds in Delhi, it’s well worth an hour or two of your time. Bring a hat, wear sunscreen, and prepare to feel a little humbled by 1700s technology!
Historic place, each segment shares a story of how the time was tracked in the kings era...it has different varieties of models which were used as different methods of tracking. Better to book tickets online if you do not have exact change. Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Yes

Jantar Mantar in New Delhi is a fascinating historical monument and a must-visit place for anyone interested in science, astronomy, and Indian heritage. The architecture is unique, and the massive astronomical instruments reflect the remarkable scientific knowledge and engineering skills of ancient India. The monument offers a different experience from typical tourist attractions. Walking around the परिसर and observing the various structures gives you an opportunity to understand how astronomers used these instruments to measure time, track celestial movements, and study the positions of stars and planets. The place is also visually impressive and offers excellent opportunities for photography. The surroundings are generally lively, and the location is convenient for visitors exploring other popular attractions in central Delhi. It is a good destination for families, students, history enthusiasts, and anyone who wants to learn something beyond the usual sightseeing experience. However, visiting with a guide or reading the information boards can make the experience more meaningful, as some instruments may not be easy to understand without an explanation.
