Directorate General All India Radio

The eternal grand daddy of radio stations. Has a country wide reach, has kept up with the times by going digital sans all the crazy commercials. Has an assortment of programs for everyone's liking. Transmitted in many languages and dialects in and across the world.

AIR AKASHVANI bhawan is located at Sansad Marg New Delhi India. It’s spread over acres. The new broadcast house NBH building is recently built. It has many broadcasting rooms. The view from top is really beautiful. The program managers and presenters are very courteous and friendly. Loved the visit for my program which had wide broadcast base at national level.

Historical Building No doubt about that. But not very well maintained. There should be a museum or separate room to showcase how recordings were done in earlier times and what equipment was used during that time. For getting any information you have to work really hard (as you know govt offices). But still the AIR music section is taking efforts to promote Indian Classical Music that is a commendable job. All in all it's a great place and AIR has a lot of resources which can be greatly used to create good quality audio content on FM and other channels of AIR but looks like no one cares about it. They are still happy with the work style of the 1980's, that's why I think it is hard for them to reach what private FM's are doing. The news part and other sections are great 👍🏻. People listen to them for authenticity, clear & crisp information. AIR digital presence is missing they should start working on that part as well. Also you won't find water easily in the building 🥲. But as an Indian my heart still wants that AIR should grow and reach masses and today's generation.

A historical background creative place where Art &Science,Culture and Indian fabric goes hand in hand. The ambience is just fantastic. It has a sparkling History woven into the entire fabric of our Country .Father of Nation -Mahatma Gandhi ji gave its only Address to the Nation. It has a recent addition -Rang Hall where all Important Functions are held. Besides English ,Hindi and other regional languages as well as the international Languages broadcast are organised and effected so as to facilitate and felicitate the India and Indian diaspora. In nutshell,it's a launching pad of Indian Culture and India too.
