Ghazipur Fish Market

This is a great place to buy fish and meat. Mornings are very crowded but the variety is huge. You can also buy packed fish and meat products like Kebabs, momos, tikkas etc. The place could be a bit cleaner and would be easier to visit. As of now it's very smelly with water flowing allover. The garbage dumps are always overflowing.

Definately it reminded me of my days in Kolkata. A lot of varieties of fish you can find in there. Many are sourced from sea. Few fishes I have thought but not available in there which I like but that may be a lonely incident. Prices are cheap and quality is good. A must visit for fish lovers. FYI : please bring polythene bags as they charge separately and you can actually save envournment.

Good for reseller and sellers of all type of sea food, but not for common ones. Because large amount of fish and other sea foods, everywhere stinking. If we talk about variety and price there is large range of variety and price. Cheaper to costly. I never see such a large market of sea food before. Parking is a issue here.

Some sea fishes are also available but they ice preserved and not fresh also mud crabs are also available and freshwater prawns are also available rohu katla basa are the main freshwater fishes which are available. Snake head is also available in bulk. Also serves as a source for 1200 rs per kg . Have to be very careful regarding freshness of fishes. Don't go don't buy if you don't know how to check and buy fish.

I have been buying fish since last year, from last month they are using some chemicals to keep fish fresh. During eating we can smell medicine. In the last month I brought 3 times, each time the same smell. Otherwise the market is cheap and good. Today we threw 2kg of fish because of the smell. Not recommended right now.

Everyday is not the same, not every season also. You have to be lucky to get good stuff at bargain prices. Otherwise the market is generally cheaper than almost all Delhi fish/poultry markets. You get many varieties, which are not available in most other markets. However, one should be careful for quality/price and have a thorough look of the market before purchasing anything.

Plenty fish options n shops are available. Tuesday market remains close but still you’ll find some vendors with limited fish sitting around the streets. The place is quite messy, stinky and crowded. Prices are very reasonable as it is a wholesale market. Retails are also available at a cheaper price. Open for negotiation. But parking is a bit mess as well, so try to avoid four wheelers during market hours or else you’ll stuck. Scooty or bikes are preferable if you’re willing to visit there.
