Oxford Bookstore

Rude and unprofessional staff with very little knowledge of the books they are trying to sell. On a rapid decline considering their people are more concerned with policing the store than helping you. You're not allowed to take a moment's rest to sit down and read what you are hoping to purchase before the ill-mannered staff come up and tell you off for sitting in an area that is not being used for any other purpose and is clearly made for people to sit! None of them have any actual information about the books and would be better off serving in the adjoining café since literature doesn't seem to be their forte. I used to rave about this place to my friends in other countries and took them with me to experience the space I so cherished only to be faced with ignorant, dismissive employees who put on their uniform and imagine themselves to have incontrovertible authority over paying customers just wanting to take a breather before buying something. They need to remember that it's the customers who keep the doors open and go back to their roots of good service and good books.

It is one of the best store in the city. They have lovely attractive sitting plus play area for kids. My kid enjoyed sitting and reading there. Collection of books is vast. They have cafeteria too to sit n have a cup of delicious coffee with snacks. Fish n chips were yummy. We spent 3-4 hrs and enjoyed our day out with kids. Must visit for people who love books

One of the few book stores that are there today... few books.. but am able to find books that are not so common reads, but are enjoyable and resonate with me. Also the way it is built, its enjoyable finding a book. The vibe is interesting.

Had the most horrible experience here. If zero stars was an option that is what i would pick. The man behind the counter was so rude that I had to take my order from the cafe and leave. They take your books while entering which is fair since it is a bookstore. However, unlike the branch in Kolkata, this man did not allow me to take any book inside. There wasn’t even a shelf of books a person can read while in the cafe. If you’re someone who loves books, DO NOT GO HERE. If you cannot show the most basic decency to a person, you do not have the communication skills to manage the counter. Terrible experience.

There was a time when this place had a reader’s spirit but now they’re just trying to be a cafe and selfie point. I went to get a book and a made mistake to ask the staff. It was s friday afternoon and the guys didn’t give a damn to me. No one talked or even responded. After asking multiple times, the guy felt irritated and asked me to not to bother him and contact the counter. I have been visiting the cafe since more than 12 years but now this place is not a reader’s place.

Ambience is amazing and also there is a place to sit, read and have coffee.
