The APMC (Agricultural Produce Market Committee) Fruit Market in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, is one of the largest wholesale fruit markets in India. Located in the heart of the APMC complex, this bustling market is a go-to for vendors, traders, and bulk buyers looking to purchase fresh produce at competitive prices. Overview and Ambience The market is vast, with rows and rows of stalls dedicated to fruits from across the country and even imported options. It’s a dynamic environment with a constant flow of activity, from unloading trucks at dawn to buyers and sellers haggling over prices throughout the day. Expect a no-frills, industrial setup—it’s all about commerce here, with functionality taking precedence over comfort or aesthetics. Variety and Quality of Fruits One of the highlights of the APMC Fruit Market is the incredible variety. You’ll find everything from local mangoes, guavas, and papayas to imported varieties like apples from Washington, kiwis, and exotic fruits like dragon fruit and avocados. The quality is generally high, though it varies by vendor, so buyers should inspect before purchasing, as freshness and size can vary greatly. The market is renowned for having competitive prices, making it an excellent choice for bulk buyers. Pricing and Bargaining The prices here are often much lower than retail prices due to the wholesale nature of the market. However, haggling is common and almost expected, so be prepared to negotiate. Bulk buyers usually get better deals, while smaller purchases might not have as much room for bargaining. The prices fluctuate seasonally, so you may find some fruits cheaper depending on the harvest period. Best Time to Visit For the freshest produce, it’s best to visit early in the morning when trucks arrive with newly harvested fruits. The market opens very early, around 4 AM, and the peak trading hours are generally from 5 AM to 8 AM. Visiting during these times ensures you get the freshest picks before the crowds arrive. Things to Keep in Mind • Cash is Preferred: Many vendors deal primarily in cash, so it’s advisable to carry sufficient currency. • Crowded and Bustling: The market can get crowded, especially during the morning hours, so be prepared for some hustle. • Parking: Parking can be challenging due to the high volume of vehicles. Arriving early can help you find a better spot. • Navigating the Market: It’s a massive space, so it’s helpful to know the layout or be ready to ask directions, as different sections are dedicated to specific types of produce. Pros and Cons Pros: • Wide variety of fruits: A diverse range of fruits from local and international sources. • Competitive prices: Excellent value for bulk purchases. • Wholesale and retail options: Open to both large-scale buyers and smaller buyers looking for fresh produce. Cons: • Crowded and busy: Can be overwhelming, especially during peak hours. • Limited amenities: No frills, limited rest areas, and a rough, industrial vibe. • Bargaining is a must: Prices are not fixed, so negotiating skills are essential. Overall Impression The APMC Fruit Market is an unparalleled resource for anyone looking to buy fruit in bulk at wholesale prices. While it may not offer a comfortable shopping experience, the market’s vibrant atmosphere and diverse selection make it worth a visit. If you’re a small buyer, going with a local vendor who knows the ropes can enhance the experience, while big buyers will find the volume and pricing hard to beat.

Bought Thai pears from Bombay Fruit Company. The quality was very good, with fresh, juicy fruits and nice packaging. Really happy with the overall experience. If you are looking for premium quality fruits, definitely worth trying!

If you want to taste authentic Alphonso mangoes from Ratnagiri & Devgad, then D-91 shop in APMC Fruit Market, rented by Tejas Tembhekar, is one of the best places to visit. The quality of mangoes is excellent, naturally matured without any chemicals, and the rates are very reasonable compared to the market. Current prices are around ₹700–₹800 for a 2 dozen box and ₹1400 for a 4 dozen box. We purchased around 15 dozen mangoes from his shop this season, and not a single mango was damaged. The taste, freshness, and overall quality were consistently great. Mango season is ending soon, so hurry up and grab your box before the stock finishes!

I own a fruit shop, and I buy most of my fruits from the APMC market. However, ever since I started purchasing from there, I have consistently received poor-quality produce. For example, if I buy a 20 kg box of apples, around 5 kg is often spoiled, and many of the apples have white fungal growth on them. The market is highly corrupt. Even the gate pass staff charge extra money—for example, they charge ₹5 more when the official fee should be ₹10. I sincerely request the Government of Maharashtra to look into these issues and take strict action to ensure fair practices and better quality for traders.

Visited the fruit market at APMC Vashi for the first time and had mixed feelings. The scale of the market is impressive, with a huge variety of fruits from different regions available under one roof. However, the overall cleanliness left a lot to be desired. In several areas, I noticed piles of spoiled and rotten fruits, which affected the experience and created an unpleasant smell in some sections. I was also expecting better prices considering it's a wholesale market, but many rates felt higher than expected for retail buyers. Bargaining was difficult too, as most sellers seemed more interested in bulk customers than individual shoppers. That said, the quality of the fresh fruits available was generally good, and it was interesting to see the hustle and bustle of one of Mumbai's largest fruit markets. Worth visiting once for the experience, but not quite what I had imagined.

Had a really good experience at KFM – APMC Fruit Market. The biggest thing I liked was the variety — there are plenty of Indian seasonal fruits along with a good selection of imported fruits. You can actually find many different varieties in one place. Prices can vary depending on the seller and quantity, so it's worth checking with a few sellers and negotiating a little, especially when buying in bulk. I found the overall pricing quite reasonable after comparing. Another useful thing is that **home delivery is available for a small additional charge**, which is convenient when you're buying a larger quantity and don't want to carry everything yourself. The only thing that could be improved is cleanliness in some areas. With so much fruit movement and loading/unloading, there can be some waste and packaging around, so better cleaning would make the experience even better. Overall, good variety, competitive pricing, helpful sellers and plenty of options for both Indian and imported fruits.
