Gazipur Fish Market in Delhi is very big. Live fish from Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab etc reaches. This is a wholesale Fish market, where all varieties of pond fish and see fish and chip cken are available. Price is a bit low. Retailers are buying from here only. But it looks very unhygienic, very smelly.

Shops & hawkers sell in messy slippery ground and haphazd manner. Though 7 am also already some marine foods were too expensive or sold out Seems one has to come even earlier at 3 am. Not that close to metro, without vehicle no sense 2 go there. Carry at least rs 5000.

This is first stop of all fish that comes to Delhi from various parts of the country as well as from abroad. It comes to life at 4/430 in the morning and the trade goes on till 12 pm. Essentially it is a wholesale market where fish sellers from all over Delhi come to buy their daily needs. They buy whole carton or big vessels full of fish (live or dead) and it is usually thru auction. Over the years they have started selling just one piece of fish (big ones like carp, cat fish, shoal etc) or at least 1 kg of small fresh fish like Tilapia, squid, prawn etc Cleaning and cutting is not done by the sellers, it is done by separate people. You pay them Rs 10 per Kg, be it cutting to pieces or making fillet. The market draws people from all over the country especially the workers. There is a huge chunk of people from Bengal, who work as cuttre, helper, porter, agents. Then there are few from UP and Bihar as well. The place is quite dirty and if you are a stickler for cleanliness, this is not your destination for buying fish. The garbage dump adjacent adds to the foul smell and allied problems. But it does not matter to the fish buyers of this city who come here all 365 days irrespective of rain or shine.

Its a huge fish market mostly sellers are selling same kind of fishes , yes price is cheap if you buy from there but be prepared to fill the stench of fishes through your nose , catfish, trout, tuna, rohu, pomfret,bass, shrimps, crab were there but anything rare or exquisite was not there or atleast i did not saw

You get all types of fish here at a cheap rate .Compared to the market .But for 1 kg or 2kg it is not worth it to visit this place .Bad smells and untorable ,of chicken market opposite fish market and waste product dumpping area . Take a mask otherwise you will faint.
