The Assam Govt. Marketing Corporation Ltd. was established in December, 1959. The Corporation is under the Administrative Control of the Department of Handloom, Textiles & Sericulture, Government of Assam. The Corporation through its chain of retail outlets is marketing the traditional Handloom, Handicrafts, Brass & Bell metal and other allied products produced by the weavers and artisans in the rural & urban areas of the State. The Corporation has at present 7-nos of sales units in the name of "Pragjyotika" Assam Emporium, at Guwahati, Sivasagar, Silchar, Tezpur, New Delhi and two in Kolkata. The Corporation has a Central Store at Head Office Complex.

Really nice place for Assamese outfits like Mekhela chador, men's Nehru coats, beautiful saree, and other products ( tea, handicrafts, jewellery, etc) from Assam.

Wanted to buy bamboo / grass products including furniture. Staff is least interested in showing items. One hour before shop has to close they had shut half the areas and just didn't want to open to show more items. Come later they said. It's quite ridiculous and sad to see state emporia being run so shoddily. Some of the items were very nice but the attitude of the staff ensured we left without buying anything.

Assam n Bengal Teas are authentic. Traditional Gamchha from NE and Assam, I love those.

A store run my state government of Assam. Good collection of authentic textiles form the state. In October they extend 10% discount.

It was the authentic place to buy Assamese products. They r genuin and those who complain about a high price but all local products from Assam being made available in Delhi includes so much of transportation cost! The sales woman was so homely. Highly recommended if want to buy Asomiya things.

Was In Guwahati on 5th Oct '24 and did lots of shopping from Assam emporium as collecion was good and prices were reasonable enough. Shopping experience was also smooth . But entire experience took a U turn when we asked to couriered ( on recommendation of staff with their courier tie up service ) our purchased stuff as it was too much to carry in flight. Even after paying double the amount which we were suppose too we haven't received our stuff till date. We made multiple attempts to reach the un heard courier service provider but number is continuously switched off since last 15 days . Unfortunately, Assam emporium concern contact number is also switched off since we tried to reach out for help ! To sum up all, all contact details shared of multiple partners are not reachable till date and even after extra payment to the courier agency and full payment to Assam emporium Guwahati we have not received our stuff. With each passing day and increasing frustation , we are losing hope to get our stuff . Highly unexpected service from government authorised entity. Recommendation: As mostly tourist shop from such places trusting the government authentication, shop only the quantity which you carry along with yourself . Most of the bamboo items looks very attractive but courier is highly unreliable or should I say it fraud.
