Went to this outlet with a friend. We had been browsing there for about 12-15 minutes when my friend said he wanted to take a photo of me and pulled out his Polaroid camera from his backpack. The store salesperson came up to us and began scolding us for taking a photo. The salesperson was calling taking a single photo a "photoshoot", I showed him the Polaroid - he could see it only had my face on it, there was no photo of any book/the store that could be considered offensive. He continued with his tirade. Now, we are reasonable people. We completely understand store policy and also understand explaining the store policy to a customer. What we didn't understand is his casual comfort with scolding a complete stranger because he is working as a salesperson at a store. He said I "better answer his seniors". I told him fine, I would. OHMYGOD, this salesperson began calling random hindi speaking colleagues and asking us to explain ourselves to them. I asked him to call the Store Manager instead, so I could hold a conversation At this point, he called some woman named Aashna and passed his phone to me. I explained the situation to her, expressed my frustration with all the time wasted because of a Polaroid photograph. After hearing the whole thing, she asked me why was I having a "photoshoot" in the store. It was unbelievable, as if even the senior people working in Bahrisons have never picked up a book in their lives and developed any comprehension. I asked her if she was being serious. She kept schooling my "tone" and asking me to "match her tone" and "mind my tone". As if the 10 minutes spent on these entirely useless conversations weren't enough, this woman Aashna managed to make the situation worse by ignoring all context and hyperfocusing on my tone on a phone call. I asked her why was everyone in the store making a massive deal of a situation which could have been easily resolved with a gentle reminder about no photographs being taken, didn't they care about their customers. I was on my THIRD call on the salespersons phone for God's sake. This is more than anyone would put up with. I was expecting Aasha to apologize for the salesperson's rabid behaviour, and move on. Honestly, this was a maddening experience for a bookstore. Instead, Aashna told me she absolutely didn't want customers like me. What a sublime experience. I am never walking into a Bahrisons again. Even the Khan Market one (my favourite place to scan for books until now) can go straight to hell. MIDLAND FTW.
