Not giving a 5 because didnt find what i was looking for. Yet, you are greeted by an 80 yr old gentleman who has a great experience of toy business evolving and disrupting in India. Visit the store if you arent only looking for hot wheels.

I am writing this so others know exactly what to expect before walking through that door. My family visited to browse the Hotwheels collection. Prices sit well above MRP across the board. We looked around, decided the prices were not for us, and politely asked the owner for directions as we were leaving. The owner, an elderly man who has apparently had decades to refine his customer service, responded with: 'You have no manners. If you were in my school, you would have been thrashed. I don't have time for this nonsense.' No argument. No haggling. No rudeness from our side. Just a courteous question, met with a threat of physical punishment from someone old enough to know far better. Here is a thought: if the owner had attended any school where basic courtesy was on the curriculum, he would have been the one getting thrashed for speaking to people this way. But clearly, the school he is so proud of taught a different set of values. There is something particularly galling about an aged person choosing to wield whatever authority they imagine they have to intimidate and demean strangers who did absolutely nothing wrong. The entitlement behind that response, rooted in the belief that operating one of India's oldest toy shops places him above common decency, is staggering. A shop's legacy is only as meaningful as the people carrying it forward. Right now, that legacy is in the hands of someone who threatens visitors with physical punishment for asking directions. The experience was nothing short of traumatizing. Avoid. Dear Google, a humble request: one star is simply not enough. For experiences like this, where a visitor is threatened with physical punishment and lectured on their upbringing for the grave crime of asking for directions, the rating scale needs to go into the negatives. Kindly consider adding that feature at your earliest convenience. There are shops out there that have genuinely earned it.

The oldest toy store in India, very lovely service from the workers and the owner very professional yet humble. From small kids to adult collectors they have most of them with their items keep expanding. Must visit for collectors

Avoid this shop if you are looking for authentic Pokémon cards or collectibles. When I picked up the packs and tried to double-check their authenticity online, the shop owner was quite rude and told me to stop. When I explained I just wanted to verify if they were genuine, he assured me they were original and said, "That's why we are selling this." He insisted on cash payment and did not provide a bill. Upon opening the packs, the cards turned out to be complete counterfeits. They have clear spelling errors on the text (e.g., "decks Then,"), generic fonts, no authentic surface texture, and the packs have sharp zig-zag seals instead of official straight crimps. Selling fake items as original and behaving rudely when a customer asks basic questions is completely unacceptable. Buyers beware.

Ram Chander & Sons, Connaught Place — said to be the oldest toy shop in India, and it truly feels like a living piece of history. The moment you step in, you’re welcomed by an 80-year-young gentleman — cheerful, wise, witty , great sense of humor and full of stories that make you smile and think. Don’t expect discounts here; expect decency, warmth, and genuine conversation. The shop carries a fine, well-curated stock — from classic toys to modern collectibles — all neatly arranged in this quaint ground-floor corner of the Odeon Cinema building. A visit here is more than shopping; it’s a glimpse into Delhi’s golden past and the joy of simple human connection. 🎠✨ — Tonmoy Chaudhuri

Great toy shop. This is the oldest toy shop of India. I have visited multiple times and overall my experience is okay. Recently I was able to find new matchbox cars on MRP. They have wide variety of toys, diecast models, airplane models etc. they have imported hotwheels/other diecast models as well but they are not available at MRP. You can find Hotwheels, Matchbox, Majorette, Pop Race, Bburago, Tomica models along with some other diecast brands as well.

Bought a costly toy (Tractor). Kid just played 10 minutes with it. The rear wheel is broken while controlling with remote. I think they already sold broken and fixed item. Later kid fixed with Fevi Kick but no use. Worst experience.

It is amazing to note that a shop dealing exclusively in toys exists since 1890. I visited the shop out of curiosity and found it to be a hidden gem. To me it seems the shop proprietors are doing more of a service to the newest citizens of the world than business. So full compliments for their commitments.
