May Day Bookstore

I paid twice for a book I purchased because of a failed transaction. The amount was deducted, my bank statement said it was a successful transaction, upon calling the store, I was, however, again told the transaction failed.

Lovely left-alt bookstore in Delhi

It just feels so authentic, unpretentious, unapologetically itself. Standing away from all the limilighty areas, not caring about the "best sellers", it has so many books that lived in a time when I wasn't even born. What a pleasure to have discovered it!!

One of the best bookstores in Delhi. I have lost count of the times I have visited May Day Bookstore after coming to Delhi. I have found many rare books which I could not find anywhere. Also, the books come with a good discount most of the time and always with the May Day book club membership (which is a meagre Rs. 130 per annum). A must-visit place in Delhi.

I went there to get academic books but they don't keep that sorts of books so it was a mistake from my side. There is a Lil coffee house inside where you can sit and have a chat. Not much big but definitely a place worth a visit.

This place is a part of history, you would hardly find another bookstore with such a rich selection anywhere else in Delhi. They have books ranging from Novels to Art and Culture to Politics to Therapeutic practices and everything in between and you would almost always find a sale going. Just try not to bring a car because parking could be a problem.

If you adhere to the cause of Socialism and Communism, this is your place to be! This is even if you just want to learn about the world. Going there for the first time is such a beautiful feeling! They have so many books dedicated to the ideology. You'll find very famous names here. But what's best about this place is how it makes an effort to stock their shelves mostly by independent writers. The prices are very student friendly and they even keep second hand books. They ha e posters and other merch. Their bookmarks are amazingly pretty. These guys host regular events as well. Definitely go check them out!

Amazing gem of a bookstore and alternative space to the standard commercial sanitized setting. Fabulous collection of books that totally under represented in commercial chains. Very knowledgeable staff, and eclectic thoughtful people who land up.
