ऐसे पड़ा तामेश्वरनाथ धाम का नाम - मंदिर के पुजारी शिवदत्त भारती ने कहा, ''भगवान शिव का नाम तामेश्वर इसलिए पड़ा, क्योंकि आदिकाल में ये नगर ताम्रगढ़ के नाम से जाना जाता था।'' - ''औरंगजेब के शासनकाल में जब हिंदुओं का जबरन धर्म परिवर्तन कराया जाने लगा तो लोग यहां से भागकर नेपाल चले गए। जो बच गए, वे बाबा की शरण में आ गए। इसके बाद शिवजी ने उनकी रक्षा की। इसी वजह से उन्हें तामेश्वरनाथ के नाम से जाना जाने लगा।'' सरयू नदी से जल लेकर करते हैं जलाभिषेक - शिवभक्त सावन और शिवरात्री के महीने में यहां भक्तों की भीड़ उमड़ पड़ती है। श्रद्धालु 40 किमी दूर सरयू नदी से जल लेते हैं और ब्रह्ममुहूर्त में शिवलिंग पर जलाभिषेक करते हैं। - भोलेनाथ के दर्शन मात्र से भक्तों की मुराद पूरी हो जाती है। लोग यहां पर घंटे चढ़ाते हैं और रामायण पाठ भी कराते हैं। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि अकाल या सूखा पड़ने पर लोग यहां शिवलिंग पर दूध चढ़ाते हैं। इसके बाद बाबा की कृपा से भक्तों के कष्ट दूर हो जाते हैं।
