Sarovar Portico Naraina

The location was quite inconvenient — everything seemed far and hard to get to. The hotel itself didn’t really live up to what you’d expect from a star-rated chain; service, staff, and food were all just okay. Not a major issue, but overall, the area doesn’t make it a place I’d choose to stay again.

I’m completely appalled with the state of this hotel. How is a place like this still open? First of all there was a pungent stench travelling from the basement floor all the way up to the second floor where we were staying. The whole hotel smells damp and is enough to make anyone feel sick. The hotel was suffocating. When we arrived about 5 staff were all standing together being useless and immature, I did not feel welcome from the second I walked in, no smiles no warm welcome. I’ve stayed in hostels with exceptionally better service. There is no fan in the room, only a thermostat with an AC that will blow mouldy smelling cold air around the room. We had room 202 and the smell was so bad we had to ask reception to switch rooms. The staff were quick to change our room with no hesitation which makes me think it’s not the first time they’ve heard complaints about the smell. I’d give this place 0 stars if I could. Left feeling nauseated. The kitchen staff were sweet and kind to help with any queries. They were polite and the food tasted good but the dining hall smelt like mould so it was hard to enjoy the food. Rooms: 1 Service: 2 Location: 2
