Cafe Udupi

Built in 1974 by the owner's grandfather, it's a place which you might find small but is rich in ethics and values. Not only it tastes good, it feels like a family member feeding you. The person who was waiting tables and serving the food made our entire day with his outstanding hospitality and service. We ordered paper masala dosa and Vada. Best on the menu: Wada sambar Maysore sada Masala dosa Sada dosa Tea Service is very apt. Although by the looks of the restaurant you would think twice to eat but don't worry it's clean and the service is way out of your expectations. It reminds of udupi hotels in south, their moto is fast service, delicious hot food, cleanliness. You must vist. I'm a regular visitor and still can't get enough of the wada sambar. Believe me I'm a south indian and have been in Indore since last 2 years and this is the best southindian hotel here. The place sure requires lotta work, but since I never rate any cafe on how it looks, this cafe got 5 stars that way. I ate Onion uttapam, Rava masala Dosa and Idli Sambhar. Trust me, this was the best sambhar I had until now in Indore and Dosa and the masala were just perfect. Pros :- 1) Good for every age of people. 2) The service is very fast and the staff is very attentive. 3) They serve you sambhar and chutney as much as you require. Cons :- 1) Going by a four wheeler won't seem ideal here since there is no good parking for it. 2) The place has good hygiene and cleaning but the atmosphere there may be a little uncomfortable as it is underground and there is not much space up on your head. 3) The interior may seem very old fashioned but to me its like having a simplicity of being inexpensive and tells you that they are really serving people since 90s. (Not really a con but still) Since I was just a walk by traveller I didn't have that many problems so I rated it like that, although considering other factors this place surely deserves three or four stars but since the place is kinda under rated and the staff is trying their best to serve you. Food is yummy😋. I loved it. Price is so fair that i have never seen so far. Staff is so polite. Service is super fast. And you can eat number of extra chutney bowl they won't stare at you😇 i love their service. We had one dosa, one plane uttpam, one idli and one vada, and all in just 272 rs. Good food especially the Sambar was authentic to southern india, good service the waiters were alert and well prepared to serve more sambar and other needs. The place itself could use some upgrades especially the outside smelled really bad with trash on the side. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3

Full marks on taste and authenticity of South Indian cuisine. Without mincing my words, this place offers closest to actual South Indian taste. Limited varieties (actually enough authentic) of items. Though little old and doesn’t have greatest of infra still I’ll give up luxury anyday for such taste.
