Desi Masala Veg, situated in the bustling food street of 56 Dukkan, is a pure veg buffet restaurant that has quickly gained attention for its heavily marketed unlimited spread. The ambiance is designed to handle large volumes of diners, featuring multi layered buffet counters displaying a wide variety of North Indian dishes, starters, and desserts. However, because of the low price point of the buffet, the layout feels more like a fast food hall than a comfortable dining space. When we visited on a Sunday, the outlet was completely overloaded with crowds, making the seating situation feel extremely cramped, noisy, and chaotic. We tried a large number of items from the buffet menu, ranging from the starters to the main course. While a few of the dishes were acceptable and decent in taste, the vast majority of the spread was disappointing and significantly lacked flavor. It was clear that the kitchen was prioritizing bulk preparation to feed the massive weekend crowd rather than focusing on quality and seasoning. The paneer and vegetable dishes felt watered down, and the starters lacked the crispness and spice you expect from a specialty buffet, leaving us with a very average culinary experience. The most frustrating aspect of our visit was the poor service and terrible management. The restaurant operates on a pay first system at the counter, which results in a highly inconvenient process during the meal. For instance, there is no way to simply ask a waiter for an extra bottle of water at your table. If you need anything extra during your dinner, you are forced to stop eating mid meal, walk over to the crowded counter, pay for the item first, wait for a receipt, collect the item yourself, and then return to your cold food. This complete lack of basic table service and hospitality utterly ruins the flow of the dining experience. Overall, visiting Desi Masala Veg felt like attending a chaotic, paid bhandara rather than enjoying a meal at a respectable restaurant. The combination of below-average service, messy management, and mediocre food quality makes the entire experience highly disappointing. While the concept of an cheap unlimited buffet at 56 Dukkan sounds tempting, the constant hassle and disorganization are simply not worth it. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxed or quality dinner.
